Tonya D Thomas was born in Blackville SC in 1969. She was educated in Blackville public schools and graduated from Blackville-Hilda High School, home of the mighty Hawks, in 1987.

Tonya is a loyal SC State Bulldog and a proud member of the final class to graduate from South Carolina State College in 1991, before it became a university.

Receiving her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from SC State, Tonya later pursued her Master of Arts in Computer Resources and Information Management, and graduated from Webster University in 1997.

After spending many years in Columbia and Orangeburg SC, Tonya moved to Charlotte NC. She remained and thrived there, demonstrating her expertise in the information technology field for the banking, insurance and retail industries.

Feeling the pull of family and community involvement, Tonya returned to the Barnwell County area so she could give back to her hometown of Blackville and be closer to her immediate family, which is where she resides today.

In her free time, Tonya is an amateur photographer, writer, appreciator of good music, poet, foodie, hostile factions liaison, hippie, nerd, best friend, daughter, sister, auntie, advocate for the unheard, owner of unruly locks and an extraordinary visionary.
