My hometown of Blackville is located right off of Highway 78 in South Carolina, just over halfway between Charleston and Augusta, GA. In past lives, it has been known as the first stop on the railroad, a town that General Sherman passed through and the Watermelon Capital of the World. Lately, it’s known for senseless deaths, crime, poverty and a victim of the economic downturn. I hope and pray that one day it will rise from the ashes. After all, it’s also known as “The Town of the Phoenix”, recovering from multiple destructive fires. There is a piece of land that is owned exclusively by God Himself for goodness sakes! And few places in that area of SC are more beautiful. Blackville, my heart.
